"In 1871, St. James' Episcopal Church moved to a new brick church designed by Fraser, Fumess, and Hewitt at Twenty-second and Walnut Streets. In 1886, G. W. and W. D. Hewitt added a soaring sandstone and granite tower with a sculpted band around its base. The richly decorated interior included mosaics of the 12 apostles, stained glass by D'Ascenzo Studios, brass candelabras by Samuel Yellin, and a memorial tablet to Henry Charles Lea designed by Paul Philippe Cret. During the 20th century. the once-affluent church declined. ln 1945, the property was sold to the Atlantic Refining Company, which replaced the structure with a gas station."    (Attribution: http://phillyandstuff.blogspot.com/2013/08/saint-james-episcopal-church-22nd-and.html)
